I started and am about to finish the first class for my ESL endorsement. I haven't really learned very many new things, a few reminders, but for the most part, I've just spent 3 hours a week sitting in a class getting to know my co-workers better and taking notes here or there. The portfolio is due this week, I guess I will finish writing it tomorrow.
I asked my roommate to move out. I've been anticipating having no more roommates, but that just wasn't happening on its own. I asked one of them to move out by April 15th, so less than a month away. I can't wait to have an empty room to turn into an office/pantry/sewing/craft/exercise room. I've been planning and unplanning it for two years now but I keep having people ask me to move in, well, no more! It was nice of my roommates to pay off my 2nd mortgage so quickly, but I think I can handle the rest. The next roommate I have move in better be a boy :)
In February, a couple of friends and I decided to get the social scene in our ward going as it was pretty dead, so we invited about 30 people over for a movie night. Besides the 3 of us, 3 boys came. We watched Court Jester, it was fun and I got to know the boys better. In fact, I even asked one of them out. We went to see the Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief movie as my class has been reading those books and I couldn't be the only one to not see it on the opening weekend. It was good for a movie, but the book is better.
I had a science lesson I taught videotaped. I was nominated for the PAEMST--Presidential Award for Excellency in Math/Science Teaching (or something like that). Now I get to apply for the award. The application process includes: a resume, 3 letters of recommendation, a lot of information about my school and class, a video of a lesson being taught up to 45 minutes, and a paper up to 15 pages about the video. I have everything done except for 2 letters (I'm just waiting for those now) and the 15-page paper. It is due by May 1st and I will hear back in July, I think. I plan on writing the paper during Spring Break and submitting mid-April so I can just get it over with.
My cousins and I got together for our monthly get-together. This month it was "Cousin Green." We had a green dinner including a green turkey, green mashed potatoes, green gravy, green rice krispy treats, and green cookies. I also made a green apple pie but we didn't cut into that until the next day as it was Pi Day. I did take some pictures, but they're still on my camera.
To end it all...I found out what my niece/nephew would look like when Steven and Randi have a baby (no, I am not announcing anything, I was just bored and found an interesting website).

That is actually the FIRST time I have seen a site morph two people and make the outcome look human! Awesome! Now to see what our children SHOULD have looked like...
Dirk and I both agree that you make us feel like we've accomplished absolutely nothing!! Sounds like you've been busy- no wonder why we haven't heard much from you. So since you're getting rid of the roomies... can we come crash at your place whenever we want?!
So fun to catch up by reading all your goings-on. We're rooting for you with the awesome science award. What an honor to be nominated. We, of course, think you're a shoe-in. :) We're excited for you to have a house to yourself (and a boy someday). :)
We love you,
Anna, Josh and family
