Goodbye, Friend

Since I have been at home a lot more lately, I've been getting a few things done. Today included cleaning out my closets a bit. I ended up with three sacks of clothes and a giant bear. Most of you know this bear by Bartholomew. I used him in my classroom as a reading bear along with Oscar until my school district made all the teachers take home anything made of cloth (sanitation issues). I gave Bartholomew a bath every summer--you should have seen the looks I got from the kids at the laundromat when I took him out of the washer. He was a good bear, but I haven't used him in such a long time and he was just taking up space. I still have Oscar though, I couldn't "bear" to give up both of them at the same time. I've known Oscar longer and Oscar doesn't shed, he's also easier to sleep on. I sent Bartholomew to find a new home, hopefully someone will find him at DI and love him.

We had a lot of fun...you should have seen this student jump when he came back to find a bear reading at his desk! (5th grade--2005)

awww... we'll miss you barthalamew!

The blue shirt of Dirk's is a Samoan Rugby jersey. He was friends with a Samoan guy when he was gone, and his mother sent a package with some gifts for Dirk in it. He loves it.
