My eight day tour of China started in a very boring way. I had already flown out to LA for my grandfather's wedding and my parents were staying at my brother's apartment as well. Sunday morning they drove us to the airport before they drove home. We got to the airport plenty early so we had a lot of time to wait. I went with my older brother, Michael, and his two friends, Nick and Dani. Day one was basically just sitting on an airplane for over twelve hours. It was VERY boring because I really couldn't sleep much on the plane. Also, there was a weird Russian dude that kept eyeing me from across the aisle.
Day two came quickly since we crossed the International Date Line. We arrived in Beijing on Monday night. Going through customs in China wasn't bad. They just looked at our passports, gave me my first stamp and sent us out into their country. We met up with our tour group in the airport and then got on a bus to drive to our hotel in the center of Beijing. After dropping our bags in our rooms, we got a quick tour of the mall under our hotel. It was pretty cool as it was a few floors of stores, restaurants, and even a grocery store. It connected our hotel to another hotel and a major building next door. We ate dinner at a restaurant called Longtable and then went back to our rooms to sleep.
Sorry, no pictures...it really wasn't a very exciting day.

Glad you had a fun time. International travel is something that I have yet to experience. I don't even have a passport, go figure.
I ditto what Lawrence said. Totally jealous. Glad you had fun. Can't wait to hear about the rest :)
So... I was reading this really quickly and saw the story about the guy eyeing you across the aisle and then something about a date line... that created some interesting images in my head. Haha.
I really need to read more carefully. (Or get more sleep...)
I like how you noticed the building layout. Going to different countries makes you aware of the strangest things.
